September 2008

For the bulk of September, a fine month in general with some late Summer warmth, so temperatures comfortably into the 20's to start, and holding up nicely for the majority of the month.  Whilst we can expect dry weather to start the month, there will also be some showery conditions, and these will become more widespread by the last third of September, accompanied by a noticeable increase in wind strength.  Temperatures will also begin to tail off somewhat as we head toward October, with the month ending on a wet and windy note, and temperatures settling back to around the average.   Late tornado activity is expected.

October 2008

An unsettled month to come with a lot of influence from Atlantic weather systems, which will roll in storm system after storm system.  The month will start on a wet and windy note, and whilst there will be some drier and brighter conditions, and indeed some pleasant autumn sunshine at times, the wet and windy weather will dominate over all as the weeks pass.  Temperatures will start average enough, and maintain a similar theme, never really substantially wavering, not at least until the end of the month, when there will be a slight downturn.  Tornado activity is expected.

November 2008

Any early unsettled conditions will give way to a much more calmer weather, which will see the month developing into a settled phase, where drier and brighter conditions will dominate.  Temperatures will start on or just below average, but level out as the month goes on, ending up on the average for the time of year.  By mid to late November there will be a few ground frosts developing, and some early snow is possibly, chiefly over the Scottish mountains, but possible down the Eastern side of the UK.
