September 2010
September starts with high pressure in charge for a fair swathe of the UK, all bar northern and northwestern areas, which will see a changeable pattern. For all parts south of this, looking settled with some pleasant spells of autumnal sunshine. Temperatures will reflect average values with the rain, above average with the sunshine.
As we push into weeks two and three, high pressure seems to wane, allowing a more unsettled phase of weather to govern most of the UK, with rather wet and windy conditions setting in for most. There is also the risk of flooding during this time. To the latter part of this period though, there are signs of a slight revival to a calmer phase of weather, albeit short lived. Despite the rain, above average temperatures for the middle part of the month.
September closes with any resistance to the unsettled weather crumbling, so expect another wet passage of weather to end the month, accompanied by strong winds. Here again, flooding would seem to be a possibility. Temperatures above the average for many areas.
A generally wetter than average month for most, with temperatures reflecting a warmer than average September.
